We have loved our home and hope that it’s next chapter will bring much happiness and fond memories for the new owner(s). When we first purchased 9134 Eton Road, it stood out to us for many reasons. We were impressed by the quality of the updates made, allowing us to not only move in without near-term significant expense, but also to appreciate that the decisions made on the home reflected values consistent with ours. We have continued that with the high-quality improvements we have made to the home over the past seven and half years. The exceptional backyard with mature landscaping also impressed us and we have enjoyed maintaining that landscaping and adding to it over the years. Now, the private backyard truly is a treasure that was the source of many lovely memories with our family. We have two small children and a golden retriever that especially made use of the level backyard.

We did not know much about the Highland View neighborhood when we moved in 7.5 years ago. It seemed lovely with mature trees and close access to everything, but that was our only impression. Now, we are enamored by the lovely community feel, the mix of families, empty nesters and couples, and the genuine friendliness and authenticity of people that live here. Just around the corner is the highly ranked Highland View Elementary School (Silver Spring International Middle School and Blair High School are less than a mile away). Every weekend we would enjoy our walks to Sligo Creek Park and during the summer walking into downtown Silver Spring for the vibrant Farmer’s Market. The easy access to downtown Silver Spring and Takoma Park was a dream (approximately a mile away for both). It seems like every weekend Silver Spring has some free concert/event providing many entertainment options in addition to the restaurants, movie theaters, etc.

We underestimated the importance of commuting options when we first purchased, but at our parents urging, focused on staying inside the beltway. We are incredibly grateful that we did! The location of our home turned out to be perfectly situated for commutes, providing versatility and options for when we decided to change jobs. There are five bus routes at the end of the street, easy metro access at Silver Spring or Takoma Park, and numerous driving options for DC, Virginia or other parts of Maryland.

It is bittersweet that we are moving on from this lovely home and community, but we are comforted by the knowledge that someone new will come and make their own memories in this exceptional home.
